This year’s “Do You Tutu?” theme will attract a variety of pink tutus to the race. Komen Knoxville launched this theme to bring a sense of hope and happiness to the families, supporters and survivors battling breast cancer.

“Research shows that one in eight women will be diagnosed in her lifetime with breast cancer,” said Amy Dunaway, director of marketing and fundraising at Komen Knoxville. “Every woman deserves to live a full and healthy lifetime, and it is our hope to help them be victorious in their battle against cancer.”

The majority of Komen Knoxville’s budgeted income is generated through Race for the Cure. Of that income, 75% of the net revenue stays local to fund life-saving screening, treatment support and educational services for the uninsured and undeserved women and men in Komen Knoxville’s 16 county reach.

The remaining 25% teams with Komen affiliates across the nation to fund groundbreaking national and global breast cancer research, awards and scientific programs. Currently, Komen Knoxville has given over $2 million to research.

Online registration for the race is now open and closes October 17th at 11:55 p.m. In-person registration is available October 15–17 at West Town Mall. Komen Knoxville created a “Sleep In” option for those who cannot attend but would still like to participate and receive the commemorative t-shirt.
