AIR NATIONAL GUARD MOBILE EXPERIENCE RETURNS TO EDUCATE PUBLIC ON LIFE IN THE AIR GUARD
Tour immerses participants in an experience that simulates real-life roles of Air Guard men and women and highlights the Air National Guard’s dual role supporting federal and state missions
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 2, 2015) – The Air National Guard (ANG) is proud to announce the return of the Air National Guard Mobile Experience. The hands-on, interactive tour returns to the road for a fifth year to immerse participants in an experience that simulates the real-life roles of Air Guard men and women and highlights the ANG’s dual role, supporting both federal and state missions.
While participating in the tour, attendees learn how they can serve their country and maintain a fulfilling civilian life, by serving one weekend a month and two weeks a year near their home. The Air National Guard Mobile Experience includes five separate touring vehicles each designed to educate the public about the ANG. The touring vehicles are traveling nationwide through November, visiting fairs, festivals, air shows, fitness and music events.
At the Air National Guard Mobile Experience, participants complete a series of timed challenges each simulating the real-life roles and skill sets of Air Guard men and women. Challenges include a Pull-Up Bar Challenge, Security Forces M-9 Challenge, Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) Airstrike Challenge, Aircraft Maintenance Challenge and Medical Challenge. These simulated challenges test participants’ electronic, medical, mechanical, observational and spatial aptitudes, physical strength and agility and responsiveness under pressure.
Participants can customize their experience by digitally viewing themselves wearing an ANG uniform from their chosen career field. Local ANG recruiters are also present at each event to discuss their unit’s mission and how a participant’s individual skill sets and interests could be a good fit for life in the ANG.
“The Air National Guard Mobile Experience brings to life the important missions - statewide in communities and globally in support of our nation’s homeland defense efforts - that Air Guard men and women serve on as part of their dual role supporting both federal and state governments,” said Senior Master Sergeant Angela Petri, ANG events marketing manager. “This tour gives participants a glimpse into the dual realities of life in the Air National Guard. We want the tour experience to educate participants that by serving within these missions they can gain valuable career experience and great military benefits - all while experiencing the pride of serving their country and community.”
Also, returning this year is the Air National Guard Mobile Experience Physical Challenge. This experience tests participants’ strength and agility and makes them feel as though they are completing Basic Military Training. Participants race through a timed obstacle course completing box jumps, a cargo net traverse, pull-ups and a cliffhanger challenge. Each obstacle must be completed correctly or a time penalty is incurred. Top finishers are showcased on a leaderboard throughout the event.
Participation in both tours is free and attendees are encouraged to share their photos from the Air National Guard Mobile Experience using hashtag #AirGuardTour.
