SINGER VEHICLE DESIGN EARNS GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED INVITE FOR 2ND YEAR
Automotive & Racing Aficionado Chris Harris to Showcase ‘Iconic Power’ in the Goodwood Hillclimb; Driving 4-Liter Porsche 911 Coupe Restored by Singer
PR Newswire, LOS ANGELES – June 16, 2016
As motorsports enthusiasts prepare to gather for the Goodwood Festival of Speed® in West Sussex, June 23-26, Singer Vehicle Design is preparing to attend and showcase its most recent UK client-owned restoration, thanks to a second year invitation from Lord March to partake in Goodwood’s renowned Hillclimb event. Joining the ranks of the Michelin® Supercar Paddock and in a salute to its ‘Iconic Power’ theme, the 4.0-liter right-hand-drive Porsche 911® coupe that has been restored by Singer will be driven by UK favorite and automotive aficionado Chris Harris and will be on display both on and off the track throughout the Festival weekend.

The ‘Newcastle’ car, referred to for its intended geographic home, is a 1990 Porsche 911 that has been restored by Singer, and is but one example of the meticulous craftsmanship the company provides to its clients. The vehicle will offer supporters of the brand an opportunity to glimpse first-hand the attention to detail which Singer evokes in every car it has the chance to re-imagine.
According to Rob Dickinson, founder and creator of Singer Vehicle Design, an invitation to Goodwood’s Hillclimb is highly coveted and incredibly humbling. “Receiving a nod from Lord March, for not one -- but two years in a row -- provides some sense of arrival within one of the most valued communities of the motorsports world,” Dickinson noted. “To partake in such a highly visible and globally recognized event is indeed an honor, and we are proud to be here and share the vision of our client’s desires, as well as our very own personalized approach to creating a true celebration of the Porsche 911.”
With a sport look that offers a performance edge, the rear-wheel-drive machine to be driven in the Hillclimb contains the first and only interior designed by Singer to-date with a ‘semi-suede’ Nubuck weave, placing the Nubuck on the outside along with a center weave mixing Nubuck with finished leather. The interior panels, tunnel and sills also retain the rich semi-suede materials. The ‘Deep Royal Blue’ coloring of the seats is enriched by the vehicle’s ‘Singer Racing White’ exterior, along with ghosted light blue stripes and blue Porsche® lettering. Additional specifications include:
- 4.0-liter, 6-speed transmission
- Brembo® ceramic brakes, racing red calipers
- Center-fill Fuel-fill
- Nickel-plated carbon fiber bumperettes
- Track-style front seats with folding rear seats
- Interior trim includes blue leather seats, ivory headliner, black leather dash and piano black seat backs
Singer’s global team will be on-hand at Goodwood to showcase its most recent UK restoration, and following the running of its client’s 1990 Porsche 911 as part of ‘Batch 6’ in the Michelin Supercar Run, the vehicle will be found as a main attraction within this year’s Michelin Supercar Paddock -- a teaser film with Singer’s inclusion can be viewed at http://bit.ly/1X8L3L1.
The company’s heritage is based on utilizing the finest traditional and modern materials to meet the vision of its fine clientele. Dickinson, a car designer and former rock musician, notes that achieving the ‘best of the best’ in every modification is the only standard to maintain, and exceed.
“We began in 2008 with a vision to offer aficionados the opportunity to re-imagine their 911s without compromise,” said Dickinson. “And now, with nearly 50 commissions completed and delivered, and a growing following, we’ve expanded upon our promise to remain obsessive in the details as we strive for more innovations along the way.”
Dickinson’s mantra, ‘everything is important,’ is the baseline for each and every element within the handcrafted backbone of the company. “From the very start, we believed that if we could somehow create an environment that thrived on the best craftsmanship and creativity in customization, selecting only the best resources along the way, along with all the best elements, then maybe, our unique celebration of Porsche would be regarded with the same obsessive passion by enthusiasts too.” And, as the world continues to take notice of a little restoration shop in Southern California that has provided a re-birth of sorts to old and tired Porsche 911s, a new fan base continues to emerge on a global scale.
Singer’s mantra continues to form each new bespoke restoration. Vehicles have more recently been commissioned by Porsche owners in Hong Kong, Moscow, Canada, England, Germany, Taiwan, New Zealand, Norway and the UK.
