bud.com Signs Exclusive Partnership with Cypress Hill Bhang and Secures Strategic Funding
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (October 3, 2018)- bud.com, a California benefit corporation delivering recreational cannabis, today announced the launch of an exclusive brand partnership and closing of a strategic private equity investment.
“We have a chance to build an epic business with a happy supply chain, bringing premium products from brands like Cypress Hill Bhang to our customers,” says bud.com CEO Dean Arbit.
This week, Cypress Hill, the legendary hip hop group, launches their new cannabis brand named Cypress Hill Bhang (“CHB”) in partnership with Bhang, a purveyor of cannabis chocolates, vapes, and oils. This new product line comes just in time for Cypress Hill’s hotly anticipated “Elephants on Acid”, their first new album in over 8 years.
Cypress Hill selected bud.com to serve as the exclusive partner selling CHB online. The CHB products include ultra premium flower strains in a collectible crystal skull jar with the iconic Cypress Hill bucket hat. The second product is a cassette tape stash box containing 6 premium pre-rolls and is available in two custom styles: a rare homage to the new Elephants on Acid album and a classic, old-school version.
These limited edition jars and cassette tape pre-rolls come packed with a choice of top-shelf, exotic strains including Cherry Bomb, Zookies, and Mendo Breath.
Additionally, bud.com has closed on financing with Serruya Private Equity (“SPE”) as the lead investor in a $1M seed round. SPE has taken an early leading role in smart cannabis investing, with a broad and deep portfolio of companies across North America. “We believe bud.com offers an unprecedented direct-to-consumer-opportunity for the recreational cannabis industry,” says strategic investor Aaron Serruya.
This round will go towards staffing and marketing as bud.com grows its operations. The new funding also supports the expansion of bud.com’s delivery areas, which have grown to include much of the Bay Area. New locations in California, including Sacramento and Southern California, will be announced later in October, with further expansion expected in 2019.
What sets bud.com apart from other more profit-minded delivery services is its commitment to measure and improve social and environmental outcomes as a California benefit corporation. The company uses proprietary technology to enable customers to schedule same-day delivery or arrange a delivery weeks in advance. bud.com is not a state-licensed cannabis business, rather the company establishes delivery operations within select local dispensaries, who deliver top-shelf cannabis products under the bud.com name discreetly to your home, office or hotel.
Launched in early 2018, bud.com is helmed by two seasoned veterans of media, software and cannabis. CTO Justin Hall worked on some of the earliest popular sites on the web, including his own Links from the Underground that earned him a designation as “perhaps the founding father of personal weblogging” from the New York Times. In December 1994, Hall was the youngest employee of Wired Magazine and discovered no one else had registered bud.com. He began a long series of experiments on the domain, culminating in his partnership with CEO Dean Arbit, who has successfully launched, built and sold numerous startups in outdoor media, online media and contract manufacturing. Arbit also serves as CEO of Wagner-Dimas which is widely recognized as the global leader in pre-rolled joint manufacturing, licensing its technology in California to Herban, the State’s leading preroll co-packer, as well as a recently announced Canadian license agreement with Aurora, (ticker TSX: ACB) in a deal valued at $10.5M USD.
Starting now, bud.com is the sole delivery service making Cypress Hill’s CHB products available to recreational cannabis users in California.
