“Today’s U.S. auto industry is diverse, vibrant, competitive and global,” said John Bozzella, president and CEO of Global Automakers and spokesman for Here For America. “From the lab to the lot, international automakers are producing high-quality vehicles for consumers here in America and around the globe using local workers and local resources to invigorate local communities.”

Supporting the launch of Here For America, Global Automakers and AIADA released an economic report that details the impact of international automakers and dealers on the communities in which they live and work. Highlights from the report show that international automakers and dealers:

  • Invested more than $72 billion into their U.S. operations
  • Employ more than 600,000 Americans
  • Produced 5.3 million vehicles in the U.S. last year [1]
  • Exported nearly 900,000 U.S.-built vehicles globally last year
  • Account for nearly half of all U.S. auto production

The initiative was announced at the 2015 American International Automobile Dealers (AIADA) annual auto industry summit. Cody Lusk, president of AIADA, said, “These economic impact numbers give credence to something we all know to be true – automotive dealers and manufacturers have a deeply positive impact across the U.S. and are integral to America’s economic health.” Lusk added, “We are here for America today and we will be here for America far into the future.”
