Ronald McDonald House® New York Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Helping Children Fight Cancer with 27th Annual Gala
Gala Honorees include Stacey Bendet, alice + olivia; Robin Hayes, JetBlue; and Chuck Davis, Stone Point Capital LLC
NEW YORK, N.Y. – May 9, 2019 – Ronald McDonald House® New York (“the House”) will host its 27th Annual Gala on Monday, May 13th at the Grand Hyatt New York’s Empire State Ballroom. The event raises funds to support the House’s operations and ongoing expansion in the New York City community, including its 95-room residence, meals for up to 400 individuals per night, and multiple in-house and hospital partnership programs, enabling children battling pediatric cancer to have life-saving treatment while keeping their families close.
This year’s Gala honors Stacey Bendet, CEO and Creative Director of alice + olivia; Robin Hayes, CEO of JetBlue; and Chuck Davis, CEO of Stone Point Capital LLC, for their contributions and ongoing commitment to Ronald McDonald House® New York.
This year's 27th annual @rmhnewyork gala also marks its 40th anniversary of supporting families impacted by pediatric cancer Tweet
This year’s Gala will raise over $2.75 million, which allows the organization to provide continued support – including meals, education, activities, experiences, events, and transportation – to families needing temporary housing and care while their child is undergoing pediatric cancer treatment at one of the Ronald McDonald House® New York’s 16 nearby partnering hospitals and cancer centers in New York City.
“Uniquely positioned at the nexus of health and hospitality globally, for 40 years we’ve been providing services for families impacted by pediatric cancer, and could not have done it without the generosity of our donors, volunteers and distinguished honorees,” said Dr. Ruth Browne, President & CEO of Ronald McDonald House® New York.
“It is known that 20% of a person’s recovery from illness is clinical, while 80% is based on the social determinants of health. That 80% is what we provide to our children and families from around the world, including: economic/financial assistance, food and nutrition, transportation, peer-to-peer support, education, language access, culturally competent programming, and wellness services for family caregivers, all meeting the comprehensive needs of pediatric cancer patients and their families.”
Ronald McDonald House® New York, which has provided temporary housing and care for more than 35,000 families from around the world, is one of the largest Houses in the Ronald McDonald Charities international network of over 360 houses, and is one of only two Houses globally – and the only one in the U.S. – with a distinct focus on pediatric cancer.
The 27th Annual Gala will include music from Broadway Inspirational Voices and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, as well as remarks from families that are currently staying at Ronald McDonald House® New York.
