Riddell® Calls “Time Out” with In-Season Equipment Check

Helmet Maker Offers Checklist for Coaches, Players, Parents

Rosemont, Ill. — November 03, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Riddell, the official helmet of the National Football League®, is taking an in-season time out to educate coaches, players and parents about how to properly inspect helmets and shoulder pads. According to the National Federation of State High School Associations, football is the most popular sport for high school boys with more than a million participants.

“Between regular practices and games, a player’s equipment experiences hours of use,” said Dan Arment, president of Riddell. “Inspecting equipment throughout the season helps ensure it’s prepared to perform its job – protecting players on the field.”

Riddell’s five-point, checklist is designed to keep proper fit and protection top of mind for all young football players:

At the end of the season, Riddell recommends annual reconditioning and recertification to prolong the life of the product and ensure it meets performance standards. When next season arrives, players will enjoy clean, sanitized, inspected and repaired equipment.
