WORLD CHAMPION SPRINTER ALLYSON FELIX INSPIRES TEENS AS AN ACUVUE® 1-DAY CONTEST MENTOR

Allyson Shares Her Journey to Success

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (October 25, 2012) /PRNewswire/ — World-champion sprinter Allyson Felix achieved her 1-DAY dream of winning an individual gold medal this summer in London, after years of hard work. Allyson attributes the guidance she received from her mentor Jackie Joyner-Kersee, who helped her reach her goals.

Allyson is a mentor in the ACUVUE® 1-DAY Contest, a program that helps teens focus on achieving their dreams. In 2012, thousands of teens shared their 1-DAY dreams with the world, via a 60-second video on the ACUVUE® Brand YouTube page, and five teen winners were paired with celebrity mentors for one-on-one sessions to get them closer to achieving their 1-DAY dreams. Gerald, Allyson’s 2011 mentee, dreams of being a professional runner, while Abbey, Allyson’s 2012 mentee, dreams of living a healthy lifestyle and teaching other teen girls to feel confident in their own skin.

“When I was a teenager, I was lucky to have a world-class athlete mentor me. It’s great to be working with ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses and to give back to other teens to help them get closer to their 1-DAY dreams,” says Allyson Felix. “Achieving one dream is not an ending, but a new beginning and a mentor can instill the confidence to achieve it all.”

After returning from London, Allyson met with Gerald and Abbey to catch up on their progress towards achieving their personal dreams. Abbey leads peers in healthy activities, like hikes; while Gerald continues his rigorous sprint training. Both Gerald and Abbey attribute working with Allyson and wearing contact lenses as key factors in helping them feel confident so they can work towards their 1-DAY dreams and inspire others.
