Philips InstantFit LED T8s can be a great replacement option for fluorescent tube lamps, reducing energy costs 40% and maintenance due to their longer rated life.  However, has not yet offered the tube LED technology to its customers. “Up to this point the energy savings potential, lumen output, and overall product cost did not warrant a sufficient replacement option for our customers.  The Philips InstantFit LED T8s have changed the game for fluorescent tube customers.  We now feel confident that our customers will be pleased with the efficiency, look, and viability of the new technology and have added the Philips InstantFit LED T8s to our product offering.”- says Chris Weber, VP of Merchandising at

According to Philips Lighting North America:

  • LED tubes save over 40 percent in lighting related energy costs- combined with their long lifetime, facility managers can recover their investment in just one to three years
  • Installers will replace fluorescent tubes within seconds - Philips' InstantFit LED T8s are compatible with most fluorescent fixtures using electronic instant start ballasts, without re-wiring
  • Speed and simplicity in installation mean less business disruption and cost - an average supermarket can now switch to LED lighting in less than four days instead of four weeks

Philips has led the way in designing an instantaneous 'click-to-fit' LED retrofit alternative for linear electronic instant start fluorescent tube lighting.  Currently, installers need to re-wire the ballast to replace linear fluorescent tubes with LED tubes. This is due to a wide variety of electronic ballasts that exist in fluorescent tube lamps today. The Philips InstantFit LED replacement tube requires no re-wiring as it includes a smart electronic design that is compatible with existing electronic instant start ballasts and sockets. The result is a dramatic reduction in the time it takes to change from fluorescent to LED T8 lighting – from over 20 minutes per fixture to a matter of seconds and an equally dramatic reduction in installation costs.

Improvements to energy-efficiency, sustainability, safety and ease of installation make Philips InstantFit LED T8 lamps a viable replacement option for linear fluorescent fixtures. “Commercial customers can test the new LED T8s with our Buy N Try program to be certain that the replacement solution is the right fit for their business before they commit to a larger purchase.  LED T8s will also qualify for our leasing program to help customers avert a potentially large outlay of capital for larger projects” – says Robert Kernweis VP of Sales and Marketing.
