Whirlpool Brand Invites Fans to Flaunt their #fridgie

Social program aims to unveil #fridgie personalities through the lens of a refrigerator

/ PRNewswire / — Watch out “selfie,” here comes #fridgie. Today Whirlpool brand launches the #fridgie to give consumers a social platform to express who they are through the lens of their refrigerator. Whirlpool is encouraging people to snap and share photos of the inside of their refrigerator to provide a humorous but telling glimpse into the diverse lives of today’s families – from takeout junkie to home gourmet, meat lover to green goddess. This concept was inspired by the design of the latest Whirlpool 4-Door French Door Refrigerator, flexible enough to accommodate every family’s growing needs. Starting today, fans can view and submit their #fridgie by visiting Facebook.com/WhirlpoolUSA, where the brand will be curating consumer-created #fridgies, hosting polls and sweepstakes.

“Whirlpool brand designs products focused on what makes each family different, adapting to and sensing what they need: the way they cook, clean and entertain—the way they care.” said Jon Hall, senior brand manager, Whirlpool brand. “The #fridgie is our way of celebrating what makes families different and what brings them all together.”

The #fridgie campaign sparked conversation at Whirlpool brand events, including House Beautiful magazine’s “Kitchen of the Year” at the San Francisco Decorator Showcase in San Francisco, Calif. and the Mom 2.0 Summit in Atlanta, GA. At these events, influencers from Alex Hitz, House Beautiful magazine’s contributing editor, to top mom bloggers and celebrity chefs such as Thomas McNaughton, chef and partner of San Francisco’s Flour + Water, uploaded their own #fridgie on Facebook and Twitter.
