It’s time to Rescue Our Wetlands
Canadians are increasingly concerned about the environment. We’re worried about climate change, cleaning up after yet another flood, watching algae take over our lakes. We’re looking for answers about our water, our health and our future. We’re looking for hope.
Rescue Our Wetlands is Ducks Unlimited Canada’s (DUC) response to this urgent call. It’s hope for a healthier future. It’s a campaign that will unite Canadians through a shared passion for natural areas that are not only familiar, but essential.
Wetlands are one of the most important ecosystems on the planet. They underpin almost every aspect of our water’s abundance and health. They provide habitat for birds, fish and other wildlife. They’re places where we can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. Conserving them is our best chance at improving our life and the lives of our children.
Thinking big, thinking long term
Rescue Our Wetlands is the largest conservation campaign in North America’s history. It spans seven years, concluding in December 2018. DUC has teamed up with Ducks Unlimited in the United States and Mexico to conserve important habitat across the continent.
All hands on deck
Everyone has a role to play. We all need clean water. We all have a favourite outdoor place we want to see conserved. We all need to be safe from floods, invasive species and storm surges. If we don’t take steps to safeguard wetlands today, the outlook will be vastly different tomorrow. It’s all hands on deck.
