What I Learned During My Summer Internship at MultiVu

The versatility of a company like MultiVu is beyond compare and far surpassed my initial expectations this past summer. While my title was Marketing Coordinator intern, my experiences were not confined to one department or a desk. I had the privilege of working alongside the Assignment Desk, the Sales team, Media Relations and the Post-Production team. The blend of professionalism, mentorship and support proved invaluable to my intern experience.
As I reflect on this past summer, the skills I acquired directly impacted both my academic and professional success far beyond my last day at the office. Whether I am listening to publicly held companies discuss their quarterly earnings on national calls, creating spreadsheets or applying to future internships, I am reminded to look back at all I learned.
- MultiVu taught me how to be my own advocate. Whether pitching to news stations, taking initiative in the studio booth or presenting my research to superiors, I gained exposure to areas in which I could both contribute and grow.
- It wasn't long before I learned the smallest details make the biggest difference. Watching the seconds between different on-air interviews or searching for the most miniscule ways to ensure consistency throughout various social platforms are equally as important to the success of the company as large sales and new clients.
- Lastly, I learned everything is connected. One team cannot function without the other and their individual missions join to execute a common goal: strategic and quality media placement. This promotes a level of collaboration unlike any other company and encourages individuals to look outside themselves to include others in their endeavors.
When looking towards my future career, MultiVu equipped me with the tools to carefully and intentionally assess situations and then find where I best fit. It granted me the autonomy to find where I could be most useful in addition to meeting tangible deadlines for projects. I will use the experience and insight I gained at MultiVu as a launch pad for future career opportunities.
Thank you, MultiVu!
